Parade Entry Rules and Guidelines 2008

Parade Registration & Line-Up

No small town Independence Day celebration would be complete without a parade, and Token Creek's is one of the best around. The parade typically gathers 50-60 entries in competition for fabulous prizes, notoriety, and bragging rights. The parade route begins on the south edge of Token Creek at Rattman and Token Road, (click here for map) and proceeds north on Portage Rd past the judging stand at parade central. There, a panel of volunteer judges will evaluate each entry, awarding points according to thoroughly arbitrary (and highly secret) criteria. The judges will also accept bribes. The parade exits Portage Rd at Mary Ida.

Entry to the parade is free and no pre-registration is required. There is only one rule: Have fun!

Additional information:

  • Parade entries will proceed in order of arrival and registration. Line-up is on Token Rd at its intersection with Rattman Rd. NOTE: Portage Rd will be closed from Hwy 19 to Rattman Rd at 10:30 am. Access to Token Rd is from the east (click here to view suggested routes to parade lineup).

  • Volunteers will be available on Token Rd to register entries. Contestants will be asked to provide a Title or Name of Entry, sponsoring organization and Contact Name and Phone Number. Participants will be asked to select one of the categories below that best fits their entry. Parade Entries will be given numbers to help the judges identify them as they pass the reviewing stand.

  • Floats that spray water are common and can be quite refreshing on a hot July day. However, the organizers request that such sprays be pointed AWAY from the reviewing stand since it could damage the electrical components of the PA system.

  • Displays can be dismantled after exiting Portage Rd onto Mary Ida. Please be considerate of residents if you do so. Also be aware that other floats will be using Mary Ida, so we ask that entries pull forward as far as possible and do not block the road.
