Token Creek 4th of July Event Schedule 2008

  • Remembrance Ceremony, Token Creek Cemetery - 10:00 a.m. at the Token Creek Cemetery, adjacent to Token Creek Preserve Park on Portage Rd.  This event is dedicated to those brave souls who answered our country’s call to battle.  Ceremonies will be conducted by the Sun Prairie VFW Post 9362 and American Legion Post 333 and culminates in a 21-gun salute to their sacrifice.
     
  • Hiney Run – A bass-ackwards 100 yard uphill race and a Token Creek Independence Day tradition.  Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. in front of the Paddle Inn, racing begins at 11:00 a.m.
     
  • Bike Decorating Contest - The Bike Decorating contest starts at 11:30 in front of the Judges Tent.  Categories include:  Most Decorated, Most Patriotic & Most Original.  One trophy will be awarded for each category.
     
  • Circle of Freedom - ~11:45 a.m., parade central.  The Circle of Freedom features Presentation of Colors by US Veterans and the Pledge of Allegiance lead by local Boy Scout troops.  An opportunity for everyone to reflect on the true meaning of the day’s celebration, we invite you to join in the circle.
     
  • Parade - The parade will kick off at noon, starting from the south edge of town (at the intersection of Portage and Ratmann Roads). proceeding down Portage Rd past parade central and then left on Mary Ida Lane (about half-way down the hill towards Hwy 19).  Participants will include the usual wholesome retinue of Fire and Emergency vehicles, fancy cars, marching bands, politicians, scout troops in full-dress regalia, acrobatic and martial arts groups.  Neighborhood parade entries will compete for custody of the coveted Golden Rake, awarded by duly bribed judges.  Candies and other treats will be plentiful, as well as occasional cooling blasts of water.  A parade of great drama and great fun, indeed!
     
  • TWCA Brat Tent and RaffleWhile the TCWA brat and dog stand will be offering food sales at their tent from 10:30 a.m. on, raffle ticket sales will be going on all day and the Real Deal starts after the parade ends, when drawings to determine winners of bucket raffle prizes and the Grand Prize raffle will announced.  Buy your tickets early and often to get a chance at fabulous prizes and, at the same time, support the TCWA in it’s efforts to protect our area’s most precious natural resource, Token Creek.
